As we are almost in the summer tourist season here in Australia, it won't be long before the tourists are descending upon us looking for a spot of sand, sea and sky. So I thought I would do a three day theme of sand, sea and sky, starting today with this sandcastle sculpture.
The sand where I live is almost white and not suitable for sculptures. The sand they use for sculptures is builders sand which is very coarse and easy to work with.
@paul10 They can take ages. I used to partake, although never successfully, in sandcastle competitions as an ado. I was constantly overshadowed by my friend. She was very good.
@merrelyn Ha ha. Not sure I am game to go near that one Merrelyn. I think I will leave it to Sal. @hermann Over to you Sal if you are brave enough. ha ha.
@paul10 This is only part of just one of the sculptures produced every year at Frankston. I spoke to one of the chaps maintaining his completed sculpture and he said it takes a week to create just one of the sculptures and then it has to be maintained for the duration of the exhibition. @peterday No Peter the tide won't take this castle, just a bulldozer when the exhibition is complete. This is just a small part of one of the sculptures.

@s4sayer@onewing. Thanks for the extra info. Couldn't imagine me having the patience for such an art form. But they are always beautiful to look at ππ
