We were at the market in Nelson Bay this morning when there was an road traffic accident right next to where we were.
This chap was riding his motor bike and got clipped by a car. I have no idea how badly injured he is, but he was on the ground here for quite some time before they took him away in the ambulance.
As you will see he isn't wearing any shoes or socks and I can't imagine why the medics would have taken his shoes off, unless they had to cut them off, so maybe he was riding barefoot.
I didn't witness the accident, but I should imagine quite a lot of people did because there were lots of people at the market.
One of the scariest thoughts I ever have is being in the car that collides with a motorcycle or bicycle because there is no protection. I was hit by a car when I was riding a bicycle, and broke two bones, chipped three teeth, had jaw problems, and neck as well. I hope this person is ok . . . and that he just needs to be checked out.
You are brave to get the shot. There was an accident at the end of our road. I wanted to go back in for my camera to show the emergency services working together to cut out the driver, unharmed, but it didn't seem quite right.
@seattlite the little boys mum was just out of the picture. I think he was more interested in the four police cars with the flashing lights that was attracting him.
What a great capture with wonderful focus and detail Babs, looks like you were there at the right time and place the poor biker on the other hand was not, do hope hes soon up and about:)
Oh heck, poor bloke, hope he was OK and not too badly bent. I spent many, many hours on a motorbike on the farm, but have never ridden one on the roads.
As do the others, I wish him a speedy recovery and hopefully that he didn't have too much damage. Both of my sons and my husband were hit by cars- the older son and husband were on bicycles. Thankfully none of them had extremely serious injuries, but my youngest did have the most of all of them. It does make you take life more seriously even when the injury is not serious. You're always thinking, "This could have been so much worse!"

The traffic here just by the market is pretty slow so I don't think this chap will have been driving too fast, he was just unlucky to be clipped by a car turning in front of him. He was flown up in the air I believe and his bike was moved to the side of the grass verge. Hopefully he will be okay. There was also a police car at the junction I believe so he will have seen the whole thing happen.
