Very quick posts this evening because we have been in Canberra for three days and only got home this evening.
I am catching up in between watching the Nadal v Federer tennis final on the television.
This shot was taken at the War Memorial in Canberra on Friday.
PS I am adding a bit more now to this post if you are interested.
This was taken during the closing ceremony at the War Memorial. An example of what we were watching is here in the link below if you are interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMnBmW7mF3g
@leananiemand@seattlite@pcoulson@stephanies@hermann I was in a bit of a rush last night filling in the gaps of the days I was away in Canberra and I was also watching the tennis final on the television. Yay Roger Federer won the tennis. Absolutely brilliant match.
This photo was taken at the closing ceremony at the War Memorial and the ceremony is performed every day at 5 pm just before the Memorial closes.
Each day they lay wreaths and also tell the story of a person who died in war. Here is a link to one of the closing ceremonies I found on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMnBmW7mF3g if you are interested.
Being an ex military wife I have heard the Last Post thousands of times and it still puts a lump in my throat.
I love the bagpipes (Scottish blood in me!) and we have seen similar ceremonies here in the States when the flag is being lowered. They always bring a tear to my eye as well. Nice shot.
