Thanks so much for your lovely comments on my photos over the last couple of days. I am trying my best to catch up today, but I hear thunder in the distance so the computer will be turned off shortly. I hope to catch up later this evening once the storm has past.
It is so warm and humid at the moment and I am sure when the storm has moved on it will be even more humid.
While we were in Newcastle yesterday we walked down to the Bogey Hole. It has been closed for a while due to falling rocks but is open to the public again now.
It was a really hot day yesterday, so lots of people took advantage of a dip to cool off.
The Bogey Hole was constructed by order of Lieutenant-Colonel James Thomas Morisset in about 1820 for his own personal use. Morisset was Commandant of Newcastle from 1819 to 1822. It was known, originally as the Commandants Baths. The name Bogey Hole was applied afterwards and comes from the indigenous word meaning to bathe. The Bogey Hole was constructed using convict labour.
Fabulous capture and amazing history Babs. We have something similar here, although not as large as this one. Ours has been demolished in the meantime. Fav
@pcoulson No Peter I didn't take my cossie. We were visiting friends in Newcastle and just walked down to the Bogey Hole as it has been opened again for the summer.
What a lovely scene, makes me smile Babs because as you know here in the UK we are wrapped up in coats and wearing hats and scarves and today umbrellas are in use as well. Interesting information and interesting to see how this little bathing area has been hewn out of the rock like that.
It is surprising what arduous building projects convicts have been put to work on in so many countries, from which we now benefit. Lovely shot and I hope the storm passed without harm.
@helenhall Luckily no damage during this storm. We lost two huge branches from our large blackbutt tree on Christmas Eve during a storm and spent Christmas Day morning out with the chain saw because the branches were strewn across the road.
@taffy @nicolecampbell @gilbertwood @julzmaioro @happysnaps @louisanoffke @pusspup Thanks, it was closed for a while to fix falling rocks from the cliffs, but opened again now ready for visitors to keep cool the heat of summer.
@kathiecb Our main computers are desktop and plugged into the mains. If we have a power surge it can affect the hard drive. That happened to David's computer a couple of years ago. Good job he had everything backed up.
I could use the laptop on battery during a storm, but decided to do other things while the storm was on.
