No photos today because I have had a whole day at home catching up on housework. It doesn't happen very often so I made the most of it.
Here is another photo from Sunday when we finally had some rain.
I said about yesterday's photo that these shots were taken through the windscreen of my car when I was on my way home from a birthday party.
The rain bucketed down and this chap was one of the soggy barbeque people who featured in yesterday's photo. I think he decided that it was time to put his kayak back on the top of his car.
If you look very closely you can just about make out that his tee shirt is absolutely soaked and stuck to his skin.
The temperature was still around 30 degrees c at the time so he wouldn't have been cold, just very very wet.
Between Sunday afternoon and Monday evening we had 75 mm rain according to our rain gauge. The garden is looking much healthier. No rain today, but apparently more is forecast for the weekend. I am sure the farmers and vine growers will be pleased about the rain.
I love getting caught in the rain when it is warm, it's bizarrely refreshing! Nature's free shower! Glad you got some rain, sounds like it was much needed.
It does look very wet. You must be feeling good after cleaning the house. I keep looking at my floors as they really need cleaning. I think I will put the robot vacuum on tomorrow when I go to work and he can clean the house.
Love your rainy shots, the rain must be so welcome, I can imagine how fresh & steaming everywhere would be,,, I exoect you could smell that rainy smell too which is special to a a time after a long dry period.
Do you not have weather reports Babs? It seem you have enough good weather to risk a barbie if the forecast's a bit dodgy! Makes a great shot all the same :)
@thistle According to our rain gauge we have only had 6 days of rain so far this year and even then it didn't rain for long. We rarely get a whole day of rain.
@suzanne234 Ha ha yes we have weather reports but they aren't always accurate. Do you know how big Australia is. The whole of the UK would fit into New South Wales alone about three times over.
We rarely get rain that lasts a whole day. Maybe just a huge downpour and then 10 minutes later the sun is shining again, so a little rain doesn't stop a barbie. Only had 6 days of rain so far this year according to our rain gauge and we are now at the end of February.
@onewing I do know how big Australia is. It is bigger than Texas, for sure. We rarely have rain for 10 days off and on like we have had. Now we are in for a few more .. off and on, but it stays cloudy.
I like how the rain really makes the shot look like you processed it to look like a painting. I am hearing from so many where rain was lacking over the last few months how grateful they are for down-pours like this. We've had a rather wet February but I'm glad for it because it will keep us from heading into drought conditions in the summer. Good shot!
