I am a bit late posting tonight because I have been at the hospital this afternoon.
I have had to have a ph study and manometry procedure done which involves a tube being inserted up my nose and down my esophagus for 24 hours. It is a bit uncomfortable, but not too drastic. Roll on 4 pm tomorrow though when I return to the hospital to have the tube removed.
This is a collage of some of the artwork that is on the walls at the hospital. At least it brightens up the corridors and gives patients something to look at as they walk by.
Sounds a difficult thing to have in situ for 24 hours. You will certainly be pleased to have it removed tomorrow. What a lovely set of images to brighten up the hospital wall.
Ooh Babs - not the best way to spend 24 hrs. Hope all goes well for you ! But you spent the time at the hospital well with camera in hand -- A lovely collage of bright and cheerful paintings !
I thought this is Babs when I saw the colour here! A rather uncomfortable experience Babs, must be an odd feeling to have that in your nose. I have put a tube down someone's nose before, I had to keep saying swallow swallow but that was years ago. I hope it results in good feedback!
@happypat@kathiecb Thanks, yes it is a bit uncomfortable, not so much in my nose, but at the back of my throat. I just keep wanting to swallow to swallow the tube down, ha ha.
You know what it is like when you have something in your eye and it feels like the size of a brick, well this tube in my throat feels like a hose pipe. ha ha.
Only another 7 hours and I can have it removed.
Man, you are a true trooper! My excuses for not posting range from "I'm more interested in sleeping" to "I couldn't figure out how to open the laptop." Inserting a tube into my nose and running it into my esophagus would have me out for five months! `And on top of all that you gave us a beautiful collage. I'm faving partly for the effort, but mostly for the beauty.
@stray_shooter Thank you kind sir. I had to do something to take my mind off the 45 cm tube up my nose and down my esophagus so photography was a great distraction.
All over now and I am catching up on cups of tea. Not easy drinking tea with a tube fixed to your nose, you can't drink properly and drinking tea through a straw is bloody awful.
There are some very lovely pieces there. It's nice that they're so colorful. I think a lot of hospitals are trying to brighten up their facilities- it helps in the healing process. My that procedure does not sound comfortable- but I hope it helped the doctors with your treatment. Nice collage.
@skipt07@kjarn@nicolecampbell@mandygravil@olivetreeann Thanks I am much better now. It wasn't a terrible procedure, just a bit uncomfortable. Having the tube removed takes seconds because they just pull it out quickly, but having it put in takes longer because you have to drink water and swallow the tube down. Inside the tube are sensors that detect acid and the flow of food through your esophagus for 24 hours and monitors it all on a small box the size of an old fashioned Walkman that you wear around your neck for the 24 hours. I should get the results in a couple of weeks when I go back to see the Professor.
Hope all goes well with your procedures.
It is just one of the many tests I have to have before surgery on my esophagus.
I just need better plumbing ;)
