The Inner Stillness of Eileen Kramer - Andrew Lloyd Greensmith

Yesterday I posted my favourite Archibald Prize Exhibition painting for 2017 at Newcastle Art Gallery and this is my second favourite painting.

The write-up next to this painting is:-

At 102 years old, Eileen Kramer personifies the idea of creativity as a key to longevity and a full, rich life. Born in Sydney in 1914, she is the world's oldest working dancer/choreographer as well as a poet, artist and costume designer. She joined the avant-garde Bodenwieser Ballet in Sydney in 1939 and travelled internationally with them. She lived in India, Paris, London and New York only recently returning to Australia at the tender age of 99.

Greensmith is a plastic surgeon and the recent ex-chief of the Department of Craniofacial Surgery at the Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne, where he co-headed the team that successfully separated conjoined twins Trishna and Krishna in 2009. As a young boy, he was obsessed with art but has only recently pursued painting seriously. He regards himself as an art student with an interest on realism and surrealism.
Bless her! Such a fabulous painting

I loved your story about this remarkable woman and the man who painted her. At first I thought this was a photograph, but understand now that the artist’s painting style is realism. This is fabulous.

You can tell that she is a dancer by the way she is holding her hands, such grace.

@paul10 It is a close run thing for me between this painting and yesterday's, but the reason I chose yesterday's as my absolute favourite was because I know Jack's story and I think that Anh Do has captured him perfectly. Plus also wherever you were in the room at the gallery this painting jumped out at you. Jack's eyes follow you round the room.
