I am filling in gaps of photos taken while we were away.
On this day (17 October) a group of our U3A friends were invited to a day at Parliament House in Sydney by our Port Stephens MP Kate Washington. If you look at the group photo, Kate is the lady in the red jacket and white skirt.
We had morning tea and scones with her and afterwards she gave us a tour around Parliament House before we were invited to a Question Time sitting. That was an experience I can tell you. We sat in the gallery at the Legislative Assembly and it was like watching a group of kindergarten kids. Never much been into politics and I like it even less now. These people run our State of New South Wales. Having said that, it was an interesting day though.
It was a long day because we travelled to Sydney and back on the train and the next day (Thursday) David and I set off on our travels to the Southern Highlands.
Fascinating to visit there & also hear the business of the day running the country! If it's anything like our parliament there will be a mighty lot of noise & shouting....like kids sometimes & even worse now during this Brexit time, you can imagine! I think the building looks beautiful & lovely to see your little group of adventurers! Are you second from right front rowing? Had a good look & I don't recognise anyone else you might be! David second from right back row?
@happypat Thanks Pat, the politicians were like a bunch of kids. David is 7th from the right standing next to Kate Washington our MP (lady in the red jacket and white skirt). I am not in the picture because I took the photo.
@pcoulson Thanks Peter, yes it was a lovely day. I have never been to our State Parliament House before. I have been to Parliament House in Canberra and our tour there took us round places you wouldn't normally see too.
Sounds and looks like an eventful day. I'm not much into politics either but recently one of our representatives was at different functions the camera club was a part of, and I must say she was the nicest person and after talking to her a couple times, I really do think she represents the people and not herself. I hope that's true of your representative too. Great collage!
