Oddie Telescope

I am posting this photo for Marnie @golftragic. It is a photo of the Oddie telescope as it is now after the 2003 Canberra bushfire. All the domes etc in yesterday's photo are the rebuilt telescopes and domes.

This is all that is left of the Oddie telescope and it is a sad reminder of the fire.

We were at Mount Stromlo shortly after the 2003 bushfire and the scenes were horrendous. It was tragic to see.

It has since been reconstructed but the original is still here as a reminder of the fire.

Fire is so destructive....such a shame to lose the original construction. There is something rather attractive about this telescope!

The loss of this equipment must have been devastating to the program. Telescopes can't be packed up and moved like some things. Great shot.
