This is an incredible Merino statue Babs, he has a proud face. Love your capture. @julzmaioro I was curious about Shrek so I looked him up. He was so cute when he was eventually sheared.
@julzmaioro yes I do know the story of Shrek but not until we were at Goulburn. One of our group comes from New Zealand and she told us the story of Shrek while we had lunch. Is there a monument for him in New Zealand
Glad I looked up shrek the merino because I first looked at this and thought it was an elephant with the trunk broken off! It is quite a structure. What is the building I wonder.
@onewing I loved that - what a great article! And I really smiled at the bottom photo with "oversized" on the truck! Brilliant idea to create a gift shop and sell local wool products there.
The only place I can think of that would have any structure close to this size is Texas. They like everything BIG there too! This fellow is fantastic and I like that they've put him to good use promoting local artisans and the wool industry. That would have been fun to watch him being moved to his new home. Great shot!
@olivetreeann There was a video link on Vimeo along with the link I attached above, not sure if you saw it. Here it is if you want to watch it. https://vimeo.com/1763568
They only moved it about 800 metres but I bet there were a few hair raising moments for all concerned.
That's quite a monument! Thanks for the link, I found it interesting - especially the move that took place. That must have been something seeing that monster rolling down the road!

This isn't Shrek Helen, Shrek is a New Zealand sheep that went walkabout. Here is a link courtesy of Wikipedia.

The Goulburn merino is nicknamed Rambo.

We have passed him lots of times on our travels over the years but this is the first time I have taken a photo of him. @henrir There is no real Rambo Henri. You are probably getting mixed up with Julia's comment about Shrek the merino in New Zealand. He was real. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrek_(sheep)
