I took this photo last Sunday, David and I had just been to the Sunday market and decided to walk the short distance from the market to town to have a bacon and egg roll at the marina. I took this photo on the way.
I have no idea how people manage to sit on a beach all day, as the temperature last Sunday was around 37 degrees c. We were exhausted just walking and we walked in the shade too.
We past one couple who must have been sunbaking for a week as their skin was so tanned and resembled leather. Melanoma and skin cancers on the way there I think.
Today I have had a lazy day at home and the temperature is a lot cooler following a storm last night. Probably only around 27 degrees today.
Potential melanomas aside, it is a lovely bright, colourful beach scene and at least most people have brought an umbrella with them. My husband has red hair (or at least it was - more light ginger now) and freckly skin - we don't sit on beaches!
A stunning capture of this lovely beach scene. In younger days, I too couldstay on the beach for hours. For many years now Ihave tried to avoid the sun 😊
A lovely colourful beach scene! I have never been able to sunbathe as I just blister and burn - sun factor 50 for me just for walking around! In that kind of heat I would be sitting in the shade with a cool drink in my hand!
Beautiful summer view. Makes me want to grab my bathing costume and rush to the sea. I go everyday to swim in summer but I go to a rocky beach to avoid the sand that creeps in in every piece of clothing and object you have with you and I jump into the water as soon as I get there, I swim for an hour or so, go up, dry myself with a towel, put on my cloths and leave before the full force of the sun comes on. That keeps me cool for the rest of the day.
In France, on other side of the globe, the thermometer says 11C and that's in direct sunlight. The true temp is nearer 6C. Our turn will come...later, much later when you'll be approaching Winter.
Beautiful coastline,but I couldn’t sit on a beach either, I love dry heat but can’t stand it too hot. But could do with a bit of warmth here at the moment. My car is is my best friend in the summer with its air con.!!
@quietpurplehaze Thanks Hazel. Not too bad. I will be in hospital on Wednesday for surgery will be in touch soon. Hope all is well with you and Ray and you are taking it easy.
@pusspup Temperature drop here too and such a relief after the intense heat.
@s4sayer As your temperatures will rise soon ours will drop, although we never get down to 11C or 6C even in winter. I look totally rugged up even when it gets down to 14C.
@samae Sizzling is right, I wondered what the noise was, ha ha.
'Only 27' is about as hot as I can cope with and like you, I have no idea how people could sit on the beach all day in the extreme temperatures you have been having. Much better to take a gentle walk.
Lovely beach scene. 37 degrees would be a little hot to be out in all day! But then I’m British & we notoriously complain about the weather! It was 3 degrees C when I drive home from work tonight btw!
I can't sun bathe- I don't like the heat and my skin is fair so I burn too easily. If I have a good book to read I can sit on the beach- but truth be told I'd rather read at home in a comfortable chair. I do like the beach though in cooler weather- love shell collecting and just looking out over the ocean. But in the temperatures you're talking about, I wouldn't be there! Although this shot looks very inviting.
Lovely Aussie beach scene Babs, but count me out of any sun-baking these days. Too many close encounters with the dermatologist already. Beats me why some people still leather themselves.
That looks like a lovely beach but I would get very bored just sitting there all day. We could do with a bit of warm sunshine here but there are signs of spring everywhere so I’m optimistic.
@365projectorgjenfurj @gigiflower @happysnaps @jeneurell @ludwigsdiana @pamknowler @josiegilbert @pcoulson @jacqbb @merrelyn @henrir @haskar @inthecloud5 @craftymeg Thanks. I suppose if people come here on holiday they just want to sit in the sun, but it isn't for me. I love walking along a beach but usually in the evening in summer because it is cooler. Just sitting on the beach though would bore me to death.
@kjarn Cooler here today too
@quietpurplehaze Thanks Hazel. Not too bad. I will be in hospital on Wednesday for surgery will be in touch soon. Hope all is well with you and Ray and you are taking it easy.

@carole_sandford I agree, I don't know how they do it. Walking to the café and back was enough for us. Not sure I could cope with 3 degrees though, that is a bit drastic.
@pyrrhula As your weather is getting warmer, ours will get cooler soon.
@radiogirl The heat has been a bit drastic and quite nice for some cooler weather.
@olivetreeann Too hot for me too. I usually walk in the evening when it is cooler in summertime.
@jgpittenger A dip in the ocean is nice, but unfortunately, you have to come out again
@lesip I don't even sit on the beach, umbrella or no umbrella.
@cruiser I would find it boring too.
@bella_ss It is nice to photograph and then find a cooler place
@taffy I agree Taffy, the few minutes it took me to take this photo was enough for me and then back to the shade and an airconditioned café.
@golftragic Some of the people there looked dreadful their skin was like leather. Who could think that looks good.
@kwind Crikey -8 is a bit drastic.
