We have been at a birthday lunch given by a friend of ours today. The restaurant is at Fingal Bay and this isn't a bad view for a lunch venue is it.
Today started out as a very wet morning, but turned into this glorious afternoon with temperature around 27 degrees C. Not bad for autumn is it.
You can see Fingal Spit (the sandbar) between the mainland and Fingal Island on the right. The sandbar shifts as storms come and go but you can see that it is very easy to walk over to the island at the moment. You have to pick the right time though and there are usually a couple of drownings a year when people don't time their walk over to the island when the tide low or stay too long on the island and try to walk back as the tide turns.
@olivetreeann I have been over to the island a couple of times. At the moment the sandbar is quite wide but sometimes it is covered completely. You have to pick your time.
Beautiful spot for lunch Babs. Holy Island in Northumberland has a large causeways that you can drive over at low tide and similar to here there are a few drivers who don't read the tides.
