On Friday evening David and I took a friend to Birubi beach because he wanted to see where I took my dunes photos from.
I also had a wander to the beach where I spotted the Birubi Point Surf Rescue members going through their rescue routines.
They were taking it in turns to jump in the IRB (inflatable rescue boat) and sail out to buoys in the ocean, circle the buoys and then race back to the beach. Each pair of rescuers were timed and it was fascinating to watch.
I took quite a few photos and the captain of the surf lifesaving club asked me if I wouldn't mind emailing him some of the photos I took.
I was pleased to do this and he is thrilled with my photos.
How great to see (I saw similar in NZ the other evening). Your images are great and I am not surprised that the captain was thrilled with them. Fav for you and fav for the dedicated surf patrols around the world.
This time of year is very busy as there are lots of mullet in the ocean and sharks feed on them. Here is a link to sharks feeding at Fingal Bay just along from this beach. This link was at Easter a couple of years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXLge_iRblk
These boys are really worth their weight in gold. We get a tv programme over here that Hubby sometimes watches about beach rescues in Australia. I watched the YouTube video - fascinating but I bet it is a little scary. Hubby will be interested when he gets back from fishing - don't think he will have seen so many fish as those Mullet!
