We have been away for the weekend in the Southern Highlands to celebrate my friend Jo's 80th birthday.
I didn't take many photos while we were away because we spent most of the time with Jo and her family.
Jo's actual birthday isn't until Tuesday but we celebrated it at a winery in Bowral yesterday. I will post Jo's photo of her cutting her birthday cake on Tuesday.
Some of you will have heard on the news about the terrible bushfires across New South Wales and Queensland at the moment. Luckily there aren't too many close to where I live right now but we did see this one at Lake Macquarie on our way home up the M1.
This was taken as we were travelling at 110 km (David was driving).
I will fill in gaps today and hopefully will be able to catch up with 365 this evening if I can stay awake, ha ha. We have had a busy weekend.
Good to hear that you had a wonderful weekend Babs. Awful news about all the fires going on, quite heartbreaking for all those that are affected. I hope it stays out of your area and that it rains soon, so that they get extinguished .
Because of the way news is reported we tend to think that only California has a fire problem. Scary when you think of the threat to peoples homes and lifes.
At first I thought it was a cloud, then realised it was smoke. It has been on the news here too. Hope it calms down for you all soon, terribly early in the season for all this. Sounds like a lovely birthday celebration
You've caught a sight that has terrified so many this weekend. We have friends near Forster- Tuncurry who have had to evacuate twice. It's already a nightmare and it's not even Summer yet. Hopefully our Government will start to take the science seriously...
So sad to hear about all the bush fires. It's a pity we can't send you some of the four inches of rainfall that fell on South Yorkshire a few days ago.
I've been getting worried about conditions up your way and hoping you were OK. Thanks for the update. Can't believe our pollies still want to dig coal out of the ground while all these massive burn people and animals out of house and home.
I'm glad to hear you had such a nice week end and that your area is still safe. But I'm certainly praying the weather will turn soon- for your country and for our west coast. Good shot.
Ian
