As you know I am not posting regularly at the moment, but I had to drop in and post this photo taken yesterday afternoon on my way to visit a friend.
It is so good to be able to post a grey sky photo. After so many smoky skies we have had lately since the bushfire disaster here in Australia began you can't imagine how nice it is to be able to see rain filled skies.
We even had 3 mm rain last night and that is the most rain we have had since the beginning of October last year.
Hopefully there is more rain up there and fingers crossed some of the rain is falling on the bushfire affected areas.
The temperature has dropped at the moment, but I believe it is short-lived and tomorrow we could be back to hot days again.
This is a panorama of my favourite tree and the mangrove area of the beach at low tide. You can also the defunct oyster beds off in the distance.
I have been popping in and checking out your photos occasionally but haven't commented much.
Some good news at last Babs, lets hope its the start of much more to come, one of my relative lives just outside Nowra NSW and has lost his farm but all are safe:)
Stunning panoramic view - and lovely the soft and muted colours throughout , So wonderful to see you dropping in ! - already missed your daily postings , - good luck with your other projects and lets pray the weather will start to behave and the fires will cease ! fav
So good to see your post and rejoice with you in the grey skies. (That is something I don't say very often). The plain grey backdrop works perfect with your mangrove beach.
@maggiemae I did know about the magnified sunset photo being on the TT, but when I looked I noticed that the Solarized Opera House was on there too the following week.
@pcoulson Oh Peter, how sad your relative has lost his farm. That area is really bad at the moment. My pal Jo lives in Mittagong and I spoke to her today. People are being evacuated there from the surrounding areas at the moment, but if the fire goes through there now, everyone is going to be trapped. The situation is so bad and it won't get any better until we have some decent rain.
There are four fires all the way down the east coast from Singleton down to Bega that are on the verge of merging together. God knows what will happen if that occurs.
@fishers Thanks, the rain is very welcome. Steady falls where I live but some areas have had flash flooding. Some parts of Australia have had the first rain for two years.
An incredible change. Just saw film on the TV news of a hail storm in Australia with hailstones the size of golf balls - but at least the rain must have helped with the wildfires.

I spoke to my friend in Mittagong this afternoon and people are being evacuated to there from the surrounding areas that are affected by fires. Her son was evacuated from Berrima last weekend but he is back home again now. Sadly he lives on the edge of bushland and has had to bury several animals and birds that have died in his garden escaping the fires.
