Sunset Beach

Last night I tried to drive to Birubi to see the sunset but unfortunately the road is still closed and all the traffic diverted along the old bay road. I decided to do a bit of a detour myself too and go to Sunset Beach at Soldiers Point instead.

You can see lots of rain and dark clouds in the distance but none of the rain reached us and we still have lovely warm sunshine here. Just what we need to dry up all the flood waters.

I am glad I ended up at Sunset Beach. Luckily this storm didn't reach. us Some of our roads are still blocked due to the rain damage. We didn't suffer too much with flooding but we did have tons of sand and soil washed down into our garden from other properties further up the hill. We now have the huge task of shovelling tons of sand and soil back behind our retaining wall and fixing the drain which partly collapsed due to the volume of water. I think it will take a few weeks to get things back to normal in our garden because we can only manage to do a bit at a time.
It is a bit like eating an elephant, one bite at a time.
