I always show my husband your shots of these amazing birds, although we visited Australia 4 times, we still are in awe you get visits from these wonderful birds in your garden …. species we only see in cages
Rainbow lorikeets - just love 'em! Have funny memories of them at Palm Beach at the cafe landing on the table and tearing our sugar packets apart before we shooed them off!
The closet we get to color like this is hoping we'll have a combination of Cardinals, Indigo Buntings and Goldfinches visit the feeder. We have no birds that come in green. They're really beautiful- and how amazing the feed in your yard! Good shot.
@momamo The lorikeets are so entertaining to watch, some are quite bossy but most play together nicely. We have two dishes of seed in different places in the garden so the bossy ones can have one tray and the nice ones can share another.
@maggiemae We get so many rainbow lorikeets in our garden. Once I counted over 50 in one sitting, it costs me a fortune, ha ha.
@wakelys I think the one on the right was just about to shoo off another lorikeets that was trying to land on the table. He wasn't sharing the seed with anyone but his missus.
@beryl Ha ha I just had a vision of one of your sparrows wearing a technicolour dream coat like our lorikeets.
@happysnaps They were the spies ha ha. As soon as they spotted me early this particular morning they were following me to the feed tray for an early breakfast.
@casablanca Yes they always make a beeline for the sugar packets in cafes don't they. I think that is their party piece for the 'tourists' ha ha
