As I walked around the breakwater I saw three pelicans watching a couple of people who were sitting on the rocks fishing. I think he was hopeful for the people to throw off cuts.
This pelican was quite happy to pose for me while I took photos of him. I think he thought with that beak he was more of a danger to me than I was to him.
Our part of the bay is very sheltered which is why the ocean doesn't look rough with huge waves but in the distance you can see The Heads and as you sail through The Heads you come to the South Pacific ocean proper.
Parts of Shoal Bay, One Mile, Anna Bay and Fingal Bay are on the ocean side of the bay and I love going there to watch the waves.
The pelican is such a very unusual bird….sorry Mr Pelican but you are no beauty….must be exciting seeing him sitting there but I dare say you are used to them!
@happysnaps There was a chap sitting on the breakwater close by and I think the pelican was hoping to cash in on his catch.
@yaorenliu I've never seen anyone attached by a pelican here, I think the are too well fed and quite tame.
@amarante I think he was hopeful that the chap sitting close by would feed him a fish before the sun went down.
@ludwigsdiana We are lucky to still have places to visit close by even during lockdown.
@beryl He was keeping his eye on the chap who was fishing on the breakwater close by.
@pusspup He was watching the chap close by who was fishing so he wasn't going to move as I took photos of him..
@happypat When we first moved here I got excited to see pelicans but now we see so many it is quite normal to spot them but the still make great photo subjects.
@olivetreeann His lost love was close by just along the breakwater so he wasn't alone. They are often seen in pairs.
