I am posting early today because I have an appointment at the podiatrist this afternoon.
I saw this moth on our fly screen yesterday and when I grabbed my phone to take a photo it flew off into one of our bushes. I managed to spot it though and took this photo before it flew off again.
It is the strangest moth I have ever seen and loved how it wrapped its wings around its body. It looks as though it has a fish tail too. So strange.
No idea what variety it is and I can't find anything on Google that can identify it.
You can see the antennae quite clearly so I think it must be a male moth on the lookout for a female.
You can see one of its legs and the other legs are wrapped around the twig.
Maybe you have discovered a new species of moth. I am thinking of some exotic names for It. Firstly, the genus Lepidoptera, and itās wings double as a shawl. What about Drapedus babsii.
Once when we were sitting around a campfire, our kids started playing around with Latin names. Michael was called Toadus ineptus, and I scored Rattus vitreolis. Much cackling and fun.
No clue as to what this is- but certainly fascinating to look at! It's unusual to see the wings tucked in so close to the body. And yes, it does look like a very yellow lobster!

@ethelperry Thanks for the smile Ethel.
@casablanca I would definitely recommend my podiatrist.
