Currawong by onewing

Currawong

We have a pair of currawong's which visit regularly.

Currawong's are my favourite birds in Australia. They have a beautiful call and even though they are large birds they are very nervous. Even the rainbow lorikeets scare them.

This one is the braver of the two. I just love their yellow eye.
A really nicel capture --you have caught his bright eye , his plumage and sheen so beautifully -- he seems yo be on the look out for your next move .!!

Look at that lovely yellow eye. I also like their call, a sort of warble.

That's quite a beak he has on him! You've captured great detail in those black feathers Babs and that yellow eye really stands out. I'll have to google their call.

So well captured Babs. He looks like a cheeky guy.

@beryl He is watching because I feed him raw mince.

@hermann @888rachel @annied Thanks. I am amazed how different the call is around the country too. Currawong's in Canberra and Victoria have a different "accent" to the ones in NSW.

@huvesaker @joeyc Thanks. He is posing because he is waiting for me to feed him. This one is so tame with me now that he will take raw mince out of my hand. He is so gentle too even with a beak that size.

@paulaw Thanks Paula. They have such a range of calls and it is amazing how different their call sounds in different parts of the country. This one takes raw mince from my hand now. He is beautiful. His "wife" isn't as brave though.

@derekvickers Thanks Derek. He is a bit of a show off. He just tries to show his Mrs how brave he is when he takes food out of my hand.
