On a mission by onewing

On a mission

This photo of a Galapagos tortoise was taken at Dubbo Zoo. I spotted him coming at top speed towards me. I am amazed how fast they can walk. It wasn't until he got closer that I realized he had another idea in his head rather than having his photo taken. His girlfriend was standing just by where I was taking photos. I decided not to post the next stage of this chaps day as it was a bit X rated. No wonder he looks as though he has a smile on his face.

Today's main album photo

To think that the tortoise used to be a very common family pet in the UK.....not this variety of course but when I was a child most kids had a tortoise as a pet at some time. Banned now thank goodness we can only see them in zoos. Very cute old man face!

@sioux He was probably smiling because he knew what he was going to get up to next.

@onlyme111 Thanks Gaylene.

@happypat We had a tortoise once when we were kids. My sister found it in the park. We kept it for about a year and then gave it to the zoo.

@quietpurplehaze He was definitely on a bit of a gallop

@jan20 Thanks Jan. Glad you liked the story.

@scarybird Trust me Steve he moved very quickly. He is at least 4 feet long and probably weighs about 500 lbs. He could travel at quite a speed. Especially when he spotted his girlfriend. ha ha.

@dgrynn Thanks Deb. He was almost skipping ha ha.

@april16 Glad you liked the story April.
