I would never have guessed
I am not very well up on farm equipment, but I am told that this is a spring on a harrow. It fits my theme of rust though so that is the main thing.
It looks like some sort of sculpture of an insect. Okay, I've got a strange brain, but that's what it looks like to me.

Actually Babs when I first saw it I thought it was one of those amazing sculptures fashioned out of machinery bits and pieces, bit disappointed that it is JUST a spring, wonderful find :-)

It was a bright day. I took this a while ago and it was really hot as it was inland, much hotter than on the coast.

Yes looks like a spring ....we used to use chain Harrows so not familiar with this type....lovey rusty spring for your theme Babs.
