The Retreat - Any offers

I just love some of the old houses in the centre of Newcastle and this fantastic house was recently up for sale. It overlooks the Hunter River at the front of the house and the ocean at the rear, plus great views of the whole of the centre of Newcastle. Situated near Fort Scratchley, Nobby’s beach and lighthouse it has a sign on it which says ‘Offers over $950,000.” Anyone interested can contact the seller.

Looks like a beauty of a place! I'm sure it won't be for sale for long!

What a gorgeous house Babs, if only I had the money, the views sound fabulous. I love the variety in Australian houses and I love weatherboard ones.

I agree, I love the architecture around Newcastle city. I will be there late next month, and plan to get some shots of the railway before it disappears.

I'd love to live there, can anyone spot me $950,000? So charming, and again, I love the colors - really like the red door, and the way they pulled the red through the rest of the front of the house. Very nice!

I don't reckon my budget would wear this one Babs. Is there a shed or dog kennel out the back somewhere?

Thanks so much everyone, but I think you have missed the chance now. I believe it has been sold. It is a lovely house with wonderful views but I don't think I could live in a city again. I love it where we are. It only has a single garage too and we need at least two with more space. I don't think I would even consider spending nearly a million on this even if I did have the money. I will stick to our bit of ocean.

@onewing Babs I'm with you - love being in cities but give me the ocean as a place to live anytime!

What a fabulous retreat! Oh dear - such a pity it's been sold. I saw this too late to make an offer! ;) Haha, as if! One can dream though ;)
