Stockton Ferry by onewing

Stockton Ferry

Today's Newcastle photo is of the Newcastle to Stockton ferry boat.

Many people park their cars at the Stockton side of the water and take the ferry to work. To park in Newcastle all day can get quite expensive.

You will see in the distance a bulk carrier ship and also a tug steering it out of the wharf to the open sea.

The ferry is so small compared to that big carrier ship!

It always amazes me when those little tugs are taking those huge ships out of the harbour. Ferries are a huge part of Australian East coast city life.

@gigiflower Yes Sam, some of the bulk carriers are absolutely huge.

@hermann Thanks Sally, each boat with a different job to do.

@karlow75 Thanks Kane, it is great watching all the water traffic in Newcastle.

@ibt Thanks Ilona.

@golftragic Thanks Marnie, Glad to hear your are learning so much about Newcastle. I am going to ask questions about it later. ha ha. to see if you were really paying attention. Only kidding.

@dh It is a fun way to get to work. The ferry only takes about 5 minutes to get across the river and a lot of people park at Stockton (free parking) and ferry across instead of driving all the way into the centre of Newcastle where parking is expensive and difficult sometimes.

@elaine55 Thanks Elaine, I love watching the tugs steering the ships out of the harbour.

@darthkitty Thanks Kat. Always busy on the water in Newcastle.

@pittcj17 Thanks Cindy, it is a busy picture isn't it.

@paulaw Thanks Paula. it is a lovely ferry. Does the trip every half an hour and only takes 5 minutes to get across the water.

@derekvickers Thanks Derek. I love watching the traffic on the water in Newcastle, always so much to see.

@kathiecb Thanks Kathie, I agree always so much to see in Newcastle.
