Old Houses by onewing

Old Houses

I just love some of the old houses in this part of Newcastle. Most houses in this area have been renovated and are worth a fortune.

These look so quaint - like something out of a storybook!

Very interesting. Many cities' inner suburbs become gentrified in time.

They are so pretty. I imagine that they are heritage listed now, and very hard to renovate.

What an unusual style Babs. Doesn't it just rot your socks that you (generic) could've bought these beauties for a song a while back, now it's a fortune.

@golftragic Thanks Marnie. I suspect though that these houses were pretty expensive when they were built too. They are close to the beach and the Fort and I think they were probably owned by the very high ups in the area. The tiny cottages are miles away. Houses on this road sell for about $800,000 now.

@888rachel Thanks Rachel. I think there are some heritage listed houses in Newcastle, but most of these aren't. Most have been modernised on the inside and sell for prices which would make your eyes water.
