Another mystery flower by onewing

Another mystery flower

Only one more day to go to the end of my month of flowers and I have another mystery flower here. Does anyone know what this one is. It does remind me of a red hot poker flower, but no idea what this is called.

@julzmaioro @karlow75 @gigiflower @beryl Thanks, I have just Googled it and although it does look a bit like a red hot poker I think Julia and Beryl are right and it is an aloe. the leaves are right for an aloe too. thank you both for identifying it for me.

I am sure it is an Aloe looking at the leaf structure Babs, agree with Julia and Beryl. Great shot :)

Wow! I was looking at those saw edged leaves as much as the flower - I wouldn't want to mess with this one. If you can't find out what it is, just call it a Triffid!

Having said that, I have just done a Google image search and come up with Aloe dawei A.Berger http://www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/Asphodelaceae/Aloe_dawei3.jpg - it looks pretty similar

Super capture Babs, great image full of wonderful colour, you do find some strange flowers to photograph, no idea what it is I've never seen one in Lancaster to date, lol;)

@888rachel Thanks Rachel, Yes I think it is an aloe, the leaves are a give away.

@creampuff Thanks Eve. Know what you mean about a Triffid. We had an aloe with leaves like this in our garden when we lived in Cyprus and it was lethal. It never flowered, but the leaves used to rip you to shreds every time you walked past it. We used to call that plant 'Triffid" too. ha ha. Thanks for the link.

@darthkitty @derekvickers Thank you both.

@pcoulson I think a few people have identified it correctly and it is an aloe. the leaves give it away. I've never seen one in Lancaster either. David's Dad lived there for a while and his sister still lives in Lancaster.

It sure is bright, cheerful orange! The leaves look like they have sharp edges, though!

Lovely color and pov. What ever it is, it looks very tropical. What will you do now, when you are done with flowers? As always I know it will be great!
