A walk of snails

Mark found a slab full of snails in our garden.

For my collection of animal congregations. The first one: http://365project.org/overalvandaan/2013/2014-12-15

Dat zijn er veel, blijft er wel wat van jouw tuin over?

Great photo. The subject matter is kind of creepy. Hope you wanted all those snails.

@tstb we wonen buitenaf, onze tuin is meer een veredeld weiland. Vorig jaar zonnebloemen en wilde bloemen geplant, heel gedoe om ze daar van af te houden.

@beryl @randystreat we live between farmland and woods, difficult to keep them out. Our garden isn't pretty, just practical :-)

...OK...not to disparage snails..."one" is "cute"... If I came across this many in my garden, I would have a heart attack! (They eat everything in sight!)

However...as part of "a group of..." animal collection, I've received my morning education as I'd never heard of "a walk of snails"!

That's a lot of snails, like your point of focus and dof
December 30th, 2014
@Weezilou me neither, but I found a whole list on the internet, like a mischief of mice, a cloud of grasshoppers, a parliament of owls. Maybe it's all made up, but I like them anyway.

@somersetflyer thanks for the fave, Andrew!

Ergh they give me the creeps, great shot

That is quite a collection - I guess you don't grow hostas
December 30th, 2014
@virtualbrownie do they also like hostas? We tried to grow some sunflowers and some wild flowers along the dry stone wall, and of course the snails found out :-). It's not really a garden, it's some grass, lots of crocosmea and some (very neglected) apple trees (which we have started pruning).

@overalvandaan they love hostas - my hostas are always full of holes
December 30th, 2014
great capture

@overalvandaan I 've seen that list a number of times...I don't think it's made up at all! They're quite creative! It would be fun to know how those groupings came to be named...as snails definitely don't have tiny feet! "Mischief of Mice"...now THAT's easy to figure out!

So many, nice find.

Believe me, snails are better than slugs. At least snails have interesting spirals on their snails to make them charming. Slugs have . . . .well, nothing. This is an interesting shot - and a brave woman to take it.

You're being invaded!
