Winter forest light

Theme for the week is:

Technical: Full Manual
This week, challenge yourself to assume creative control over the camera by using full manual mode. Select a subject where varying the aperture and / or shutter speed helps enhance the composition and visual qualities of the image.

I shoot manual most of the time, so this week I'm going to use my vintage lens, Helios 44-2 only. I bought it a week and a half ago and today had a bit of a practise with it. I was lucky with the weather, for it changed from dull and dreary to bright and light for a bit. I practised with the aperture. You can actually see it change in the viewfinder, when you turn the ring (wide light, narrow darker). The manual focus is fun, though slows the photo taking a little down.

Can you see the bokeh, I can :-)
Pretty light!

The tree has definitely caught the winter light.

Het licht is wel erg speciaal en anders in de herfst en winter. Ik vind het bijzonder prachtig en/of bijzonder en prachtig.

Ahh yes, I spot the bokeh, which I understand the Helios is famed for

Bokeh is inderdaad niet echt duidelijk te zien. Ik ben erg benieuwd naar jouw ervaringen met dit objectief.

Very pretty- the lens sounds like it is fun to work with and reminds me of the one I had in my 35mm days. Nice shot.

I like the shot of the woods. Spent some time in a place like this today myself.

Yes, I spot the bokeh and like you, I like the way you see what you get when you shoot. The slow pace you get when focusing manual is an extra bonus.
