15th September 2015 - Sophie

For my mentoring group - B&W with artificial light.

This is Sophie my great niece who I managed to talk into doing a portrait session with me. It took her an hour to do her make up before we could start!! I was struggling with the off camera flash settings and the room was not as dark as I wanted. After over 50 shots this was the only one she would agree to me posting. She hates her huge nose and her large forehead and when she smiles her face looks fat!! This from a beautiful 15 year old who puts selfies on FB with a face doing a trout pout!! LOL!!
@taffy @newbank @888rachel @golftragic @jgpittenger

Struggling with my off camera flash settings. I overexposed lots of shots. Then I got shadows where I didn't want them and not where I did want them. I would like to extend this theme for two weeks if that's ok with you all. I feel I am learning but slowly - very slowly!!
Good news today - Barbs MRI scan results all clear!! Yippee!! Good news at last and a 6 months breather until the next check up!!

I wish I could get results like this! She has made up her most beautiful face so nicely!

Lovely portrait and background

How funny...Sophie will not be caught short but my word she doesn't need an ounce of anything out of a bottle but you try telling them that!

She looks beautiful. Great in B&W

Her face, hair and makeup are all gorgeous, and I love the pose and background here, fav for me! So glad about the MRI scan results, that must be a huge joy and relief.

Lovely b&w portrait shot

Lucky you to have such a willing model! I think your composition is terrific -- I like the balance of stripes on her sleeves and the sign, and the way she's framed. There's a bit of a glow/glare on her left cheek that might be the light from her phone.

@taffy I am laughing Taffy!! I told Sophie I could sort out the glow on her cheek and she said no she liked it - I think she thought it highlighted her cheekbones or something? Who knows? Out of over 50 shots - most of which I thought were lovely this was the only one she gave the ok on!! Teenagers!! LOL!!

@pamknowler :-) At least you have a living subject! I'm reduced to the toys again, I think. Danbo and P3 will be happy, I guess. It's that or the spider at night if it continues to hang out on my deck. Trade you, even if it is a teenager!

She is very beautiful
September 15th, 2015
Most definitely a teenager then. Wonderful lighting and a neat background.

You chose a fabulous background and I am so impressed with how this turned out. I got my husband to pose but it has none of this wonderful bizzas. I'm not taking a teenager though...did that 5 times already!

I agree with Taffy about the cheek glow but hey we're talking about teen angst here. I think it's a beautiful portrait but maybe a little overdone on the eye shadow? I also like the background. She may not think so but she's a very pretty girl.

Wow a beautiful picture of a beautiful girl

What an awesome portrait. She's a beautiful subject. Lucky you.

Gosh, how can she not know she is beautiful. A lovely shot, I really like the interesting background, and how her whole face is lit. You are lucky - there is no way my son would pose like this, even for money!

Gosh, what a great shot Pam, the lighting on Sophie's face is very good indeed.Fab portrait. Typical 15 yo, she doesn't need any make-up!!
