I had imagined that St John's was a small fishing town similar to Lunenburg. The photos I had seen were of quaint little coloured houses on the very steep hills. Wrong! St John's is a very large town as you can see from the photo. There are a couple of streets with the coloured houses which we will try to get shots of.
After dinner last night we drove to the top of Signal Hill and this was the fantastic view.

Many thanks for your lovely comments on my plane scape images from yesterday's flight. We are off down the cast today - who knows what we will see?
Oh Pam, this is marvelous! As I scrolled down to this photo, my first thought was... St John's! Who's here?!!! Maybe for now it's just the three of us traveling companions, but that's good enough for me! (May I add that the view was indeed fantastic, but the cold, buffeting wind nearly knocked us over! "Not typical", the locals said...)
Oh fabulous! This must be St. John's Newfoundland. We lived there for 3 years. We really enjoyed our time there and made some great friends. We even saw Princess Diana,, Prince Charles and Prince William waving from on board the Royal Yacht when it came into this harbour!
