16th January 2014 - Marbles

Just a quickie today. This is for the Technique challenge - Wide Apertures CSC14-02. Using my 100mm Macro lens Aperture Priority F/2.8.

Not sure what has happened but the background looked white in LR and now looks blue to me when i have uploaded it. I have lightened it again in Picmonkey but it still looks blue to me.

Many thanks for all your lovely comments on my shots yesterday and especially for your good wishes on my new venture!! I have been to the Charity Shop this morning with a couple of chairs and some other things. I need to make space!! Help!! LOL!!
Good shot. At least you've not lost your marbles. I'm off to find mine...

Nice focus on the big red marble and good DoF. And I am glad you have found your marbles.

Nice dof and simplicity, I also like the use of lines and the red against the plain background

nice. like the dof and the reds on the white

Lovely marbles!

I like the focus and the abstract effect of this. I don't know if you have Photoshop Elements 11, but it has a "Remove Colour Cast" tool which I have found useful when something looks too blue or orangey or whatever.

Wonderful shot :)

This is effective Pam I like the composition and dof. I sometimes find the colours look a bit different once I've uploaded too and it doesn't always seem possible to correct it in picmonkey.

Lost mine long ago

It is pretty cool how the out of focus marbles sometimes lose their round shape. Very interesting study in depth of field.

Beautiful detail

Really shows how the wider aperture leads to a narrow DoF. Well done!
January 17th, 2014
Fun, creative shot to really show off what a wide aperture can do!
January 18th, 2014
wow, this is fabulous

This is a great use of wide aperture! Love the simplicity of it! Really cool

Lovely dof - superb shot.

Great shot Pam, many of my shots on here also look a bit darker than when in LR.
