Many thanks for your lovely comments on my F - flower yesterday. I do love orchids and have finally discovered how to keep them, not kill them and get them to flower again next year!! Such a thrill and especially when it's one of my bargain orchids and i don't know what the flower will look like.
Went to the docs today for a pill check and she checked my ribs which are just bruised not cracked. Then she checked my BP which was high!! Oh dear something else to sort out!! I seem to be falling apart at the moment!! LOL!!
Pam, this is just fantastic! I love the POV and DoF -- you've gotten them 'just right'. The black background that the fork seems to extend from is perfect too. Well done! And heal fast!! Are you sure the high BP isn't an artifact of the pain from your ribs?
@taffy Thanks so much Taffy!! The Doc wanted to double the tablet I am already taking after just one test. i asked if I could wait before increasing the dose as I think it may be to do with how ill i have been feeling with my ribs plus the excitement of moving my sister in with me!! I have to go back next week to get it checked again so we will see. I think they are too keen just to give you pills!!
great dof Pam, you are not having a good time of it at the mo are you. I hope everything starts fixing soon.
So, Queen of the Orchids :) the one my daughter bought me has just completed flowering..........should I be pruning the stalks down?
@pixiemac Thanks Sarah. I would leave the stalks to see if they die back. One of mine flowerd on the old stlak. most do die back then I cut them off. Good luck!! The secret is not to overwater. Put the flowerpot into lukewarm water once every couple of weeks for about 10-15 mins. Then drain completely. Never water from the top of leave standing in water in the flowerpot (thats what I used to do and likked them with kindness!!) I put plant food in the water when i stand all mine in the sink.
Wonderful pov and dof, showing us the beauty in an everyday object, fav for me! Hope you can get the blood pressure down. Less sodium in the diet can be helpful.
@tristansmum Thanks so much Stephanie I appreciate your lovely comment - could I ask you to click the fav button please. Yes the Doc said have less salt in my diet which is something I must address as i do love salty things!!
Fantastic shot, dead on focus - superb! You would be bound to have high bp with any discomfort and pain - as for me, I only have to walk into the surgery and mine goes up!!
Fabulous focus Pam, wonderful shallow DoF, you have certainly nailed this. So sorry to hear about your ailments and in a way I know just how you feel as I seem to need a complete overhaul. There are some foods that are supposed to help lower your blood pressure, celery is the only one I can remember at the moment. Check this out although celery is not on this one http://www.healthline.com/health-slideshow/foods-good-for-high-blood-pressure#1
Also I have been meaning to say that I have requested contact with you on the Photography Course, not sure whether you have seen.
@elaine55 Just connected with you Elaine - I am finding the site very slow to respond. I clicked on the link about foods but it didn't work - I will try it again without the bit on the front to see if it works. Thanks so much for that - I want to try anything rather than increase the drugs if possible!!
@elaine55 Got it and been shopping and bought loads of things i should be eating. Beetroot juice is not my favourite drink - yuk!! But if it does me good!! LOL!! Thanks Elaine!!
@pamknowler you're welcome Pam, off to bed now! I am on a strictly controlled diet for allergies and can't have carbs, gluten, dairy, sugar, no fruit at the moment other than lemon and limes, hardly any root vegetables, no alcohol. Been like that for 8 months now, I did sneak the occasional glass of bubbly other the festive season and had a few potatoes but I usually stick to it.
Wonderful focus and pov. I am enjoying your F for February shots! I was very interested in your advice above regarding orchids. I do manage to keep most of mine alive but they never seem to re-bloom. I am going to change the way I water them (from the top) and follow your suggestion.
