15th July 2015 - Kirkstone Pass

After leaving Ullswater we drove over the Kirkstone Pass towards Windemere - you can just see the lake in the distance. What a fabulous drive through the mountains with stunning views either side. Such a shame I was driving!! This shot is taken from the top of the pass where they have a car park and viewing point. Everywhere looks so different in the sunshine!!

Uploaded for my alternate album

I was thrilled to see this on the PP this morning! Thanks for getting it there!
I love this part of England - changing weather can completely change a view! Fav

Fantastic capture. It's been a while since I have seen that scene. It is a great road to travel.

We have driven that route, it is stunning. Are you going to enter some of these in the BBC Countryfile competition (have to be in soon )

What a gorgeous landscape, Pam. The winding road that takes us to the distance is well placed. Do you use LR? I wonder if the graduated filter would bring out more of the sky?

Fantastic view!

@taffy Thanks Taffy. I do use LR. I was disappointed with the sky. I haven't used the graduated filter before - I will give it a try.

@pixiemac It was a wonderful drive - I really enjoyed the views all the way through. I wanted to be taking photos!! What is the subject for the Country File competition this year? I have never entered a competition.

My husband takes part in the Fred Whitton Challenge which is a bike ride over the four passes Kirkstone, Honister, Wrynose and Hardknott (110 miles and 11,000 feet). Anything under 8 hours is considered a good ride!! Fabulous photo. Am glad you are enjoying your holiday.

Beautiful landscape and I like Windermere peeping through.

@taffy I have done as you suggested and used the graduated filter. Wasn't sure what I was doing but I think i have improved the sky a bit. What do you think?

Great landscape view. Yes, it is hard to take photos while you are driving, especially on a winding road.

Oh Pam, beautiful, instant fav. This just goes on forever! What a fantastic view!
July 15th, 2015
@pamknowler I think it makes a huge difference! It still looks completely natural, but now the sky is contributing to the scene.
