Funny, but I was just talking about how the embroidery used to be the family and historical record for Hmongs who had no written language of their own until recently, and even with that, there are so many mutually exclusive dialects that pictures work better. Then today, at the school I found this story cloth, incorporating English into the embroidery to tell the story of the brother and sister who survive the great flood and have to marry.
Hi Dixie . . I loved your other Hmong quilt and love this one too. My Hmong piece is very small with embroidered crosses . However, I've noticed that the border is identical to this one and the color is the same blue with the same pattern. Very interesting. I LOVE their work.
