When I lived in Wyoming and had no snails or slugs except in the ponds and aquarium, they were fascinating. Here they are everywhere and devour my seedlings and my lilies and although I still see their beauty, We are at war. My 18 foot row of sunflowers is down to about 4 feet that are large enough to be slug proof, so I am not exactly winning either.
Sundays in June are free choice in this challenge.
I think I read something about putting out a dish of beer to get rid of slugs?? Google it and see what comes up! I tried growing sunflowers but the squirrels get them here....eat the seeds before they grow.
@cimes1 The snails will crawl into the beer and drown, I usually just grow the mammoth sunflowers for fun and enjoy watching the stealers jays feast on them in September
Good capture showing great colors and textures. I like snails, but only in tiny amounts. Slugs are a problem here. I have read about beer, salt, and a vinegar solution to get rid of these invasive animals.
I always wonder why with all the stuff that is out in the woods beyond my house why the critters insist on eating my seeds and flowers. It has made me have less pity for them for sure! I like how the swirl of the leaves are repeated on the snail's shell.
Nice shot of your garden predator. Pill bugs used to eat my squash plants. I found my carefully tended squash covered with 300 little monsters one morning before dawn. Sorry about your sunflowers. Guess you have to either coexist or find tasty snail bait to lure them away
