Some of these are not quite true monochromatic, but they were as close as I was coming just scanning through my pictures. Personally I love snowy scenes in purple or blue monochrome and disagree with the following statement in wikipedia about the boring quality.
"Monochromatic colors are all the colors (tints, tones, and shades) of a single hue.
Monochromatic color schemes are derived from a single base hue, and extended using its shades, tones and tints (that is, a hue modified by the addition of black, gray (black + white) and white. As a result, the energy is more subtle and peaceful due to a lack of contrast of hue. Monochromatic color schemes may be considered boring unless there is diversity within the design."
I think that monochromatic is one of the most beautiful colors of all. My mind seems to relax more around them. Very soothing and it shows in your photos. Great info again, Dixie. The top photo (left) draws me in ...I would love to hang that one on my wall. Hope you hung it on yours. (that is one of your photos, isn't it?)
@karenann Yes, these are all mine. In all the color collages the only ones not mine are the older ones in the black and white and sepia of my parents or me as babies/youngsters.Thanks for always being here with the comments and suggests and just keeping the conversation going.
it's too bad we are relegated to just one album and one photo a day (well, three and three if you have an ace account), because i would have loved to see these photographs in more detail. you know you lose a large portion of the photograph when you put it in a collage like this. however, you managed to showcase all your photos beautifully. i'd love to have seen them closer. my favourite in this ensemble is the top centre with the trees (redwoods, are they?) a close second. but all are lovely. btw, what is that thingamajiggs in the lower right photo? so intriguing!
@summerfield Yes I agree, I always want to see more and show more. Which is why I love this place. One of the few places I know where I can whip out my pictures without making my friends and family sigh and roll their eyes. Nice to have a place for visual friends!

The statement is true only when there is no diversity among the design. Monochrome shots, when done well, make you look twice to see all the nuances. You've got some beautiful shots in this one. Great job with all the attached info on these collages! I feel like I'm back in art school (o:
