A plan to sleep in was interrupted by a hug from my son. First time he was home in 11 days and he just ran in, hugged us in the dark, patted his dog and headed back to the harbor where the boat was being unloaded of 50,000 pounds of these guys. I still didn't see him but I heard the "I love you" and the gloating laugh that the kid who bullied him in high school couldn't tough it out and quit today.
Crab fishing is definitely a job that will break you- if I've learned anything from The Deadliest Catch it might be that. Well, that and the fact that I could NEVER in a million years be a crab fisherman! Glad that he made it to shore for the off-load safely and that he seems to be weathering the most demanding and dangerous job on earth. Enjoy the meal!
Yum! How wonderful that he stopped by. Will he have time after the off-load to come back for longer? Kinda funny that the bully couldn't hack it and yet your son is still there crabbing.
Love crab meat!!Used to live near a fishing port as a child, and I remember going for walks, with my dad,by the fishermen's cottages. The women used to sell dressed crabs on tables,at their front doors. All gone now, unfortunately, just memories.
oh, i'm so happy for you, dixie. what a wonderful story. it's making me choke, and i don't choke easily. but it tugs the heart. maybe because i love crabs, too. :-)
