I am committing myself to parts of the flash of Red in February challenge. All my pictures will be black & white which should make me focus on lighting and texture a lot more I think. Except for the selectively colored flash of red on the 14th. Which I have never yet done.
I'm not going to follow the suggestions for daily pictures this time though. i really have my own goal I want to work on. A lot of the challenge involved household things and I want to get out more and take some of those pictures I usually just drive by, and look at wistfully but rarely have the time or the confidence to stop the car and walk out to take.
Love that sun flare, Dixie. This whole scene looks fabulous in b & w. I'm with you on some of the themes. One never knows what you'll see out there and I hate to be restricted. The one on the 14th sounds interesting though.
Beautiful shot- actually today's "portraits without people" is based on an idea that you use objects and settings to photograph a person; not the person themselves. I think this could be a self portrait Dixie! I really do associate the sun, sea and Redwoods with you. And as for the household object, there is nothing that says you can't bring the subject outdoors. I see you developing a book out of that- some adventurous little item who makes a break for it and discovers the big wide world! You don't have to totally throw out the guidelines to do what you want (she says with an impish smile) just blend them with your goals and get creative! (o: hehe!
I love this! The sun flare is great here. Think about doing just red with a black or white background. A natural selective color. Try to keep other colors out of the picture.
This is a great photo. I love the emphasis on the tree and then the emphasis on sun due to the flare. A perfect balance. It sounds like you have a goal for the month and I'm looking forwarding to seeing your accomplishments.
Great sun rays capture! I like your idea for the flash of red challenge. I am participating in this challenge too. I think I may substitute another challenge for the household object.
