Rain and repair

Our harbor has been a mess since the big Japan tsunami in March of 2011. Looking across the mudflats at high tide we can see the proof that the repair work is once again underway. It always seems to rain here when we want to go walk at the harbor but Del Norters have gills and webbed feet so that is a non-issue

(Del Norte County residents rhyme it with el snort so read that to rhyme with snorters)
Wow, I never realised how far afield the aftermath of the Japanese tsunami went.

@salza crescent City had 4 people swept to sea, three rescued but one who's body was recovered a month later and 300 miles north. Our harbor docks were destroyed and 16 crab boats sunk. It was nothing compared to the crescent city tsunami in the early 1960's which killed 11 and wiped out the downtown

I had no idea of this aftermath either...so devastating. Still, this is a wonderful view.

Rebuilding takes such a long time. But at least it's being done. I remember you posting the pictures after it happened. It doesn't seem like that long ago, but it really was.
