Bridging the Holidays

This footbridge across the Smith River goes from Jedediah Smith National & State park to Stout Grove redwoods. It is usually put in when the spring flooding eases at Memorial day and put in storage after Labor Day. The center section is tall enough to allow kayaks and canoes and small drift boats below.

"Your problem is to bridge the gap which exists between where you are now and the goal you intend to reach."
Earl Nightingale
First time that I hear of a seasonal bridge! Guess it makes sense if there's regular flooding. Is it a pedestrian bridge only?

How very lovely and the quote fits so well. Giving this a fav for reflections, color and composition.

@salza yes it is a footbridge only and shakes and sways with every step. Just wide enough for two to pass if one holds the cable and steps to the edge.

That bridge is unique. I like your story behind it and would like to cross it sometime.
