Here we are just on the north edge of Battery Point and children love to come here and yet the tide is very extreme, so the land is open part of the day and submerged the rest. The spring season brings especially harsh storms and more than 30 tsunamis have hit here with at least 3 large enough to do damage. one killed 11 people and destroyed a huge chunk of the town. The daily fog and the deadly rocks make this a major hazard for ships so out lighthouse is still functioning as an important guide to sea goers.
The daily drama makes this place both beautiful and a place where rescue workers are called frequently.
Three Good Things
1. People who respond to calls for help
2. people who respond even before the calls for help by creating things like lighthouses and emergency response teams
3. A wild world where things are so dangerous that we need to learn to stick together
One of those great places with bags of character that you can love with a passion. Rough and windswept but with its own kind of beauty. Wonderful shot.
