Growing up in the high desert, snails and slugs were exotic and mysterious creatures, and fascinated me only in places like the aquarium. Here where they are common and try to devour my seedlings before the garden has even begun, I am not so hesitant to kill them if I can when the garden is beginning, but now, when I am feeling lazy and not starting a garden and my mind lingers on how much I might resemble this slimy cousin, I can show mercy and demand nothing more than a photo.
They sure do eat your young ones (plants). Only thing worse is pill bugs which I just found out are crustaceans, not insects. They seem to love young squash stems.
Time to put out the dishes of beer. Yes, they crawl in and have a slushy time drowning in the stuff! But what a way to go! LOL I find them really disgusting and am embarrassed to say I don't have a problem getting rid of them at all!
