I love this place, the road washed out decades ago although thirty years ago we would brave it, not because it was good enough but we were dumb and drove beaters we bought for $50.
That hill has a cave in it, the cave gets louder as you get closer, and after climbing up, and crawling down into it you realize you are standing on a beach with crashing surf. Here is Mom, inside it several years ago http://365project.org/pandorasecho/365/2014-10-31
Once it was easier to climb into, and then one day the Coast Guard chased a small boat filled with drugs ashore here, the smugglers were arrested while we watched from high above, but when we came back a month later, the boat had been dynamited by law enforcement and the cave collapsed. waves are persistent though, so a quarter of a century later they have rebuilt a wide beach with a taller, more cathedral like dome above
@pandorasecho OK.... We know Gold Beach. It was always one of my Dad's favorite spots along the Oregon coast. We took the Rogue River mail boat trip YEARS ago, more than once. Probably 60 years ago, at least.
