Colorful

Stupid little things you do a jillion times and then suddenly snap, and it's messed up! Left foot on the ground, right knee on the van floor, leaning in to put 14 month old Daisy in her carseat and suddenly there is a popping/snap from my left calf and it feels like someone threw a rock hard and hit me. Too proud to tell My granddaughters mom I'm really hurt, and it isn't just a cramp. duh! By the time I'm home with Daisy I can hardly walk. So yeah, dumb on top of accident means we spent the afternoon in the Dr.s office, where Daisy was adorably good and I was hurting. Torn calf, needs ice and elevation and immobilized and pain meds. Just wonderful.

Thanks for asking everyone, the update is I'm doing a lot better and the pain is minimal unless I am not careful in stepping up or down steps. Thursday I injured it, Saturday we had to drive 180 miles round trip to see the dentist and sit around the dentist office through three appointments. The enforced idle time helped, plus some massage and ice and stretching all very minimal because the slightest increase still hurts. But Sunday, even though it feels better, the whole thing from knee to ankle turned dark purple with bruises. Strange to realize the only violence happened deep within my leg while I was standing still. Scary, and I'm not sure how to prevent something like that happening. But as the pain fades it becomes almost interesting to watch the colors develop.
so sorry to read this. hard to be slowed down, especially in the summertime. looks so painful. i have heard it said it can be better to break something than to tear something. so, so sorry.

That looks so sore Dixie.......I once snapped a tendon while running after calves...I felt it go too but yours was alarmingly simple. I have been strapping two kids in their car seats for the last six weeks, so glad mine didn't go like this. A speedy recovery but it will take time sadly!

"interesting to watch the colors develop" Now there is finding a silver lining. I find the fragility of ouur bodies quite terrifying and bewildering. My favorite detail of the pictures is the plants growing out form behind the couch.
