I found another author

New to me but she has a lot of books. So I’m in heaven.

Don't know her. What kind of books does she write?

She has an unusual name so we just might remember her!

@gijsje @maggiemae she writes more than just the series I’m reading, but it has ten books based on Appalachian folk songs. The review I write o; the only one I’ve read yet says this

A good friend of mine gave me her copy of this book after hearing me describe the intermingling of past and present in my own, Oregon Trail novel. I forgot she had given it to me, but when she asked about the authors name so she could look and see if she had written others, I drug it out of my “To Be read” shelf and started it. The strong characters and plot grabbed me immediately so I looked up the author myself, and when I realized there were so many books in the series, I was happy. This book looks like it could be interchanged with many from the shelf in the corner drugstore, but it doesn’t read that way at all.
It starts with a ghost sighting, and the mystery of the young woman who was stolen from her family’s cabin in the river bottoms of a Tennessee homestead two hundred years ago. It has an interesting character in a minor role with the gift of sight. There is an escaped convict, and a second story of his troubled life, and they cross paths with college teachers and radio DJs, local Law enforcement and a wide variety of minor but strongly developed characters.
As a reader I can seldom think of another book that captures my imagination as strongly, and as a writer I am very much in admiration of her craft.
It looks like the other books in the ballad series are able to be read as stand alone, but I’m intrigued by this author enough to have ordered the first two already.
