Sometimes it’s hard being a grandma with the granddaughter living here every day. Stumbling over toys, getting interrupted at everything, but it’s the biggest joy too, getting snuggles as we read together, having a “helper” with any chore, being always loved. Today she came home from daycare, and the energy and excitement in her voice as she screamed for Grandma to come see the gift she had made “just for you Grandma.” There was such pride and such certainty that I would love it, and hang it in my bedroom, the picture and the broccoli! For a second I felt a sadness that her Mom doesn’t get the moments like this. But then for once I decided to not be sad, but celebrate because Grandma’s are Mothers too, and this Grandma loves that precious child.
So sweet!! Her life would be much different were you not there to be the recipient of these gifts. Yes, it's sad that her mom isn't getting one too- but if there was no one to give a gift to, and all the other students had someone- even sadder. So count it all joy- she takes after you too!
