The Smith River fire has us smoky and raining ash. At 47,000 acres of burning redwoods and madrone our roads east are shut down. Our power lines burned but the power company has gotten the really huge generators here into the stations. So after candle, kerosene and luci lights for days, last night we had water and electricity.
