Welcome by pandorasecho

Welcome

Tonight I am having our book club at my house. They have been reading the first book I published, which is hard, because the last couple books we read were both really good, really adult themed, and Duffy Barkley is different, more for middle school and mine, it hasn't sold as well as some of my others but it is my personal favorite. I'm going to cook and I love the people in the group but if you know me, you know I don't exactly do the House Beautiful. Nervous!
"House beautiful" has its time and place. It's great to see alternatives to "perfection". I guess I didn't realize you are an author. Good luck tonight!

Hope it goes well tonight! I'm definitely not "House Beautiful" either! I'm sure the group doesn't expect that of anyone.

Nor am I house beautiful. I'm sure everyone will have a delightful evening. It would be fun to be there! That table looks very inviting.

Love to see the table they are all going to sit around! I have a table too for the book club and it works better than sitting around the lounge in comfy chairs. Well done for choosing your book to read. I'll have to see if I can find it!

I love this "sun room", as I'd call it. Windows all around and lots of light. It's lovely. I think I'd spend my life in here. (I like lots of light!!) Dixie, we have more in common with our Wyoming root. My email address is on my profile. Email me and I'll tell you some more of our story. (Too long to do here.)

What a lovely place to have your book club and a great shot. You'll do fine, Dixie. I don't mind cooking for my own family but am always uncomfortable cooking for other people. Sometimes I think children's books are better than adult books. I love children's books.

@aglennc I will, but not today, three hours until they start arriving.

@pandorasecho Not a problem, I understand. Enjoy your book club evening. We'll be out of town till evening tomorrow. Hope for some different (for me) photo ops.

Nice shot and what a great room...

This looks like a perfectly wonderful spot for a book club meeting and I think you will find that they all have enjoyed your book.

@danette @mcsiegle @sunnygreenwood @maggiemae @aglennc @mittens @pippie @henrir thanks for your comments. They all talked about my vivid colors and photographs everywhere way more than about my novel, and I was busy cooking and serving and directing them to toilets or drinks and barely had time to hear their book chat. Kind of disappointing that way, but a night filled with laughter and good friends. Last year I went to someone else's bookclub at a different house to specifically talk about another of my books, and that went smoother, hard to be both hostess and author

A beautiful setting for your group. And I suspect they enjoyed the book more than you think.

but you surely do "plant beautiful."

@pandorasecho Too bad you had to be cooking and directing. I play Bunco with a group of neighborhood gals once a month. The hostess provides (different each month) provides the home and maybe some drinks. The rest of us provide the "eats". That way the hostess can enjoy it too.
