wow, look at that. what do they use redwood for? is it a hardwood? it looks soft but looks are deceiving. another great shot.

@catsmeowb it is very hard and termites hate it. So it lasts forever. The softer stuff you are seeing is actually the thick bark. Redwood decks and patio furniture and counter tops and flooring. My house is framed in redwood

@pandorasecho oohh, you know, suddenly it clicks. of course. decks everywhere are made of redwood and then they make mulch from it, too, because the bugs hate it. thank you, dixie, for the reply. find this so interesting. love to garden and then, too, we have all this cedar on our land.
