Beer's breeches

This plant is getting to the end of its blooming stage and my house is still standing. I was starting to fear it would eat us before going dormant but I see the leaves losing their green.

They really are amazing how much goes into the growth of these huge stalks! They still look good around your house!

it is a spectacular plant. This is what I think of when I imagine NW vegetation: oversize, lush, fairytale. Like your miraculous apple tree. This just seems part and parcel of all that (which I've possibly created out of my imagination)
